Saturday: Coweta jumps to 28 new cases of COVID-19

The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Saturday, Aug. 22.

Today, Coweta County confirmed 28 new cases of COVID-19 with no deaths or hospitalizations reported. The 28 cases ends a week which Coweta saw 222 cases (31.7 per day), 0 deaths, 1 hospitalization. In August, the county has posted 676 cases (30.7 per day), 7 deaths, 15 hospitalizations. It’s the 33rd consecutive day that Coweta has registered double-digit cases.

Cumulative totals to date for Coweta include 1972 cases, 26 deaths and 107 hospitalizations.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (63 on Aug. 14); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

Georgia recorded its 7th consecutive day below 3,000 cases with 2592 on Saturday. Other totals included 94 deaths, 200 hospitalizations and 33 ICU admits.

The headlining numbers for Saturday are Georgia’s cumulative totals, now over a quarter of a million cases at 252,222 and over 5,000 cases deaths, now at 5092. Georgia has 23,325 hospitalizations and 4251 ICU admits during this pandemic.

Presently, there are 2361 people hospitalized in Georgia with COVID-19, a decrease of 47 from Friday.

Overall, Georgia now also stands at 23,325 hospitalizations and 4251 ICU admits.
