Saturday: Coweta surpasses 1,300-case mark, adds 2 deaths

The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Saturday, Aug. 1.

Coweta County added 17 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, plus recorded 2 deaths. The deaths were of a 78-year-old white female with no underlying health conditions and a 90-plus-year-old white male with unknown conditions. The 17 cases marked the 12th consecutive day of double-digit new cases

Cumulative totals for Coweta now stand at 1313 cases, 21 deaths and 92 hospitalizations.

Single-day highs for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (48 on July 23); deaths (3 on May 21); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

Georgia dipped slightly in all COVID-19 categories on Saturday except for ICU admits. Statewide, there were 3660 new cases (about 350 less than Friday), 73 deaths and 306 hospitalizations. There was an increase of one in ICU admits with 61 on Saturday.

It was the 41st consecutive day Georgia had over 1,000 new cases and 5th straight day over 3,000 cases.

Presently, there are 3,095 people hospitalized in Georgia with COVID-19.

Overall, Georgia has 190,012 cumulative cases, 3825 deaths, 18,995 hospitalizations and 3475 ICU admits.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (94 on April 20); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (85 on July 24).
