Sunday: Coweta with 6 new cases of COVID-19, 1 death

The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Sunday, Sept. 13.

Coweta County confirmed 6 new cases of COVID-19 with 1 death and no hospitalizations on Sunday. The death was of a 69-year-old white female with no underlying conditions. It marked the 12th death in Coweta this month due to COVID-19, 5 more than the previous high of 7 in August.

Sunday’s cases push the Coweta total past 2400 and now stands at 2402, up from Saturday’s sum of 2396. The overall positive rate for tests in Coweta is 8.8 percent. Other cumulative totals to date include 38 deaths and 113 hospitalizations.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (66 on Aug. 26); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

Statewide on Sunday, Georgia was again below 2,000 cases with 1,409, some 700 less than Saturday’s total. There were 46 deaths reports, 42 hospitalizations and 9 ICU admits. It’s now 29 days since Georgia has had a day with 3,000 cases.

Presently, there are 1553 people hospitalized in Georgia with COVID-19, up 8 from Saturday.

Overall, Georgia now stands at 294,314 cases, 6333 deaths, 26,369 hospitalizations and 4827 ICU admits. The overall rate for positive tests is 10.3 percent.
