Southern Staging & Redesign: Keep it ‘Simple’ as home seller during holidays

By Nan Johnston, Southern Staging & Redesign

Here we are at the holidays and everyone is decorating for their celebrations and holiday dinners.

If you are a home seller and anxious to get your house sold, follow the K.I.S.S. rule.

Only one Christmas tree with about half the decorations that you normally use is recommended. Having the tree covered up in every ornament made or purchased that you own, can be overload to a buyer and take the focus off your house and on your ornaments.

Keep the exterior décor to a minimum as well. Adding a simple wreath or two if you have a double door entry, and perhaps a holiday door mat and call it done.

The inflatables that you’ve collecting over the years will be better packed up this year.

Keep in mind, it never fails … if you have a house full of guests, that’s the day you will get the call to have the house shown. Just ask the guests to clean up their rooms and store their items under the bed  and help you get the house in showing condition and you just may get a contract!  That’s a serious buyer if they want to look over the holidays.

Y’all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
