The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Sunday, Nov. 8.

COWETA COUNTY CASES

On Sunday, Coweta County confirmed 6 new cases of COVID-19 with 0 deaths and 0 hospitalizations reported. Of the 6 cases, the age group of 45-54 years old had 3 new cases, the most of any age group. So far in November, Coweta is averaging 9.9 cases per day, slightly below the daily rate of 12.4 for October.

To date, Coweta has registered cumulative totals of 3092 cases, 63 deaths and 155 hospitalizations. The overall positive test rate is 7.8 percent, and in the last two weeks, it’s 6.5 percent.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (66 on Aug. 26); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

GEORGIA CASES

In Georgia on Sunday, the state confirmed 1253 cases (down 466 from Saturday’s totals), only 1 death (the fewest since Oct. 25), 33 hospitalizations (down 85 from Saturday) and 4 ICU admits (down 12). Georgia has been over 2000 cases in a day just twice since Sept. 19 and continues its streak of 85 straight days below 3000.

Presently, there are 1,487 people in Georgia hospitalized (10.2 percent of all patients) with COVID, down 8 from yesterday. Also today, 2300 ICU beds are in use across the state (78.7 percent capacity) which is down 66 from Saturday.

Overall, Georgia has recorded cumulative totals of 373,078 cases, 8194 deaths, 32,468 hospitalizations and 6095 ICU admits. The overall positive test rate is 9.3 percent, and in the last two weeks, it’s 7.1 percent.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
