Thursday: Coweta adds 11 COVID cases, 1 death, 4 hospitalizations

THE SKINNY – Coweta County reported 4 COVID-related hospitalizations on Thursday, the most since 5 on March 5.
The Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Thursday, April 1. Below is a summary with data from the Georgia DPH on Coweta County, neighboring counties and the state of Georgia.
COWETA COUNTY CASES
On Thursday, Coweta County confirmed 11 new COVID-19 cases with 1 death and 4 hospitalizations. The 4 hospitalizations were the most since the county recorded 5 on March 5.
Case-wise, Thursday’s 11 cases broke a string of 6 straight days below 10. It was only the 2nd time in 12 days to record more than 10 cases.
In the past 7 days, Coweta has logged 41 COVID cases (5.9 per day), 2 deaths and 7 hospitalizations.
Coweta has posted 11 cases in April (11.0 per day) with 1 death (1.0 per day) and 4 hospitalizations (4.0 per day). For comparison, here are the March totals and per day averages – 373 cases (12.0 per day) with 30 deaths (0.96 per day) and 29 hospitalizations (0.94 per day).
The positive test rate of all persons tested in Coweta is 10.2 percent, and in the last two weeks has dropped to 3.2 percent.
Overall, Coweta has confirmed cumulative totals of 8409 cases, 181 deaths (with an additional 12 probable deaths) and 314 hospitalizations since the pandemic began. Coweta ranks 22nd in Georgia (out of 159 counties) in cumulative cases and 19th in deaths due to COVID.
The age group of 15-24 year olds had the most new COVID cases on Thursday with 6.

GEORGIA CASES
Georgia continued its low number of new daily COVID-19 cases by confirming 878 on Thursday, its 33rd consecutive day to record below 2000. Other Thursday numbers included 57 deaths, 98 hospitalizations and 13 ICU admits.
Two of four patient census categories increased on Thursday. ICU Bed Occupancy rose to 2364 (up 34 from Wednesday) or 77.6 percent capacity. The number of In-Patient Hospital Beds in use across the state increased to 12,350 (up 227) or at 81.2 percent capacity.
COVID Patients Hospitalized in Georgia decreased, now standing at 1170 (down 34) which is 7.4 percent of all statewide hospital patients. And Adult Ventilators in use also dropped, now at 993 (down 12) or 27.5 percent capacity.
The overall positive test rate of all persons tested in Georgia is 10.7 percent, and in the last two weeks, it is at 5.2 percent.
Georgia has confirmed cumulative totals of 853,273 cases, 16,664 deaths, 58,908 hospitalizations and 9637 ICU admits since the pandemic began.
Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (10,379 on Jan. 8); deaths (184 on Feb. 12); hospitalizations (611 on Jan. 6); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
