Sunday: Coweta surpasses 2,000-case mark

The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Sunday, Aug. 23.

Coweta County confirmed 42 new cases of COVID-19 today with no deaths or hospitalizations reported. The 42 cases pushes Coweta County’s cumulative total over the 2,000-mark to 2,014.

In August, Coweta has seen 718 cases (31.2 per day), 7 deaths, and 15 hospitalizations. It’s the 34th consecutive day that Coweta has registered double-digit cases.

Other cumulative totals to date for Coweta include 26 deaths and 107 hospitalizations.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (63 on Aug. 14); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

Georgia recorded its 8th consecutive day below 3,000 cases with 1727 on Sunday, the lowest single-day total since 1,548 on July 6. Other totals on Sunday included 40 deaths, 44 hospitalizations and 14 ICU admits.

Presently, there are 2360 people hospitalized in Georgia with COVID-19, a decrease of 1 from Saturday.

Overall, Georgia now also stands at 253,949 cases, 5132 deaths, 23,369 hospitalizations and 4265 ICU admits.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
