The Interview – Dr. Kay Crosby

Briefly describe yourself and what you do/did.
I am the Medical Director and Volunteer Physician at the Coweta Samaritan Clinic. I am married to Brad Crosby and we are the proud parents of three amazing daughters, Mollie, Ellie, and Maggie and one son-in-love who is married to Mollie named Evan. (She did not say this, but we would like to point out she is the 2018 Citizen of the Year.)
Best piece of business advice you’ve received.
Surround yourself with good people, and I have definitely been blessed by those surrounding me at the clinic.
If I had it to do over …
I would continue my effort not to miss a thing!! I would try to make more time to be creative, to explore the world, learn more languages, play the piano again, and enjoy every minute with my family and friends.
You are going on an extended solo trip. What three albums and three books would you take?
Three albums: Anything by Josh Groban, Alan Jackson’s Greatest Hits Vol 2, and Spotify “Have a Good Day” Play List
Books: The Bible, a good church hymnal, and a picture book filled with pictures of family and friends.
Tell us one thing about yourself that few people know.
My first name is Nancy.
You are hosting a dinner party for six. What five people, living or dead, would you invite and why.
Well…I really loved the group gathered around my table for Christmas which included my husband, my 3 daughters, and son-in-law because my family is the most precious to me. If I were to not include family, then I would invite Mother Teresa for occupational advice, Mary mother of Jesus for parenting advice, Jesus’ disciple John to learn more about love, my friend Jesus who has ALL the answers, and maybe Jimmy Fallon to help us keep the conversation going.
Name an as yet unfulfilled dream.
I still cannot speak Spanish.
If you weren’t doing what you are, you would be …
I love what I do and I think I am doing what I was called to do, but if I was to be doing something else I would think it would be some kind of mission work.
Your go-to food.
I love a good salad or bowl of soup…followed by some good dark chocolate.
Favorite movies(s).
Sound of Music, both Mama Mia movies and both Mary Poppins movies.
Dogs or cats?
I love the adoration and companionship that I get from my dog, but I do love the arrogance and mystery of a cat. I love them both.
Your favorite quote and why?
Prov 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding, In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path.
My Grandmother gave me my first bible and wrote this in the front and told me that this bit of wisdom would get me through life.
Name something that you are extremely glad you did or accomplished.
I am so very thankful that God asked me to be a part of His plan to start the Coweta Samaritan Clinic! It is an amazing place where amazing things happen! It is a blessing to be a part of making the lives of others better.
What advice would you give your younger self just starting out on their own?
Pay attention! Take it all in! Always be aware of the needs of others! Stay Humble and Courageous!
