The Trends – November
Taking indoor dining out
Fall and early winter in our area of the country are a perfect time to enjoy taking the indoors out. The temperatures are cooler and foliage is still quite beautiful. Also we no longer have pesky insects.
Some spaces are intimate and cozy with maybe a fire pit while others are expansive backyard spaces with covered decks, flagstone, brick, lights, ceiling fans, grand cooktops and grills. All these spaces add up to making a wonderful time outdoors. Some even had multiple areas for dining, dancing and conversations.
Outdoors spaces are one of kind and your individual personal style should be reflected in them. Whatever your space or style, it should make you happy. Most experts will tell you to do a little bit to your yard each year. Eventually, you will have quite a masterpiece. Daniel Lichty of Litchy Brothers Construction in Newnan did the following outdoor space at our friend’s home and it is indeed spectacular. This year, why not get going on your own outdoor escape.
Celebrating friends and family
Celebrating the holidays with friends and family can be fun. It can also be stressful and quite hectic. I hope this holiday season will be filled with laughter, music, friends, family and a heart of gratitude and great memories.
I hope we focus this season on the significant, and not the insignificant things that make us crazy. Your holidays may not be perfect, but what’s really perfect anyway? Remember this is your one life to live and we are mere travelers here. Treasure the small things. And this year may we seek to give gifts that will leave a legacy and eternal blessings. Those would include love, compassion, forgiveness and words of encouragement.
So what if the house is not perfect. It is not the end of the world and and world will continue to spin on its axis. Remember to embrace the moments and savor them.
Workspaces that change the way we do business this side of the perimeter
Are you one of those who is tired of working at home or all alone? Do you seek a space to meet potential business clients? Do you need a professional place for business meetings and to lead seminars? Then 15 Perry Street has just what you need. John Shaak has created a different kind of workspace, one that has been trending in big cities for years. 15 Perry Street is state-of-the-art from the Internet to office equipment and focuses on building businesses, relationships and community. Shaak is an entrepreneur and has a passion, as seen at his building, to help others succeed personally and professionally.
This creative space brings businessmen and women together from diverse backgrounds and life experiences and gives them an opportunity to meet in this unique work event. Shaak said that “15 Perry Street is a place where those with dissimilarities experience a collision of opportunity.” Although, 15 Perry Street is currently at full capacity, expansion ideas are always in the works. But not to worry. People can still pay what is called a “drop in fee” to use open office space, internet services and other amenities. There are three conferences rooms and one training room. I have a whole new appreciation for this co-working trend and I think this trend is here to stay.
A woman of substance
I really enjoy meeting fun, talented and creative women. I have many friends who fit the bill and one of those gals is Gail Mercer. She is also a true business woman. Being a retired accountant for the state of Georgia, this gal can work a spreadsheet like nobody’s business. Her personality and passion for life, family and friends is infectious.
She lights up a room not only with her vibrant personality but also with her very own designer handcrafted candles called g.Mercier. Gail began making candle about nine years ago. She also has dabbled in soaps and lotions, but the candles really stuck. She has spent years testing fragrances and she makes 15 different kinds of candles and they are all 100% soy. They have a burn time of approximately 50 percent longer than paraffin candles. The wick is made of braided cotton and paper which make her candles safer.
Several of the popular scents are cedar and saffron. Besides making candles Gail has a designer booth at Rockin B Antiques. You can purchase her candles for less than $10. Gail is one of those that has a great business mind and flows with creativity. That is a wonderful combination I believe. Cheers to creative entrepreneurial women like Gail who follow their passions and share them with us.
