From Staff Reports

The weekend calendar is slowly waking up to the start of 2019 with a few more events taking place this weekend than last.

The highlight of the weekend will be Saturday’s Martin Luther King Jr. Parade in downtown Newnan. This year’s theme is “Honoring the Dream through Love, Education and Service.” The parade begins at noon.

And there’s plenty of live, local music tonight (Friday) as our music columnist Kris Youmans has five venues offering up tunes.

As far as the weather, today is the best of the three-day weekend. Expect sunny skies today with a high near 50. Then rain moves in Saturday and early Sunday. There’s a 70 percent rain chance Saturday and 80 percent chance Saturday night. High temperatures will be near 50, with lows around 40. As of 6:30 a.m. Friday, only a 30 percent rain chance is forecast in Newnan for the start of the MLK Parade.

Below is the day-to-day listing of events in the area. To have your event published, please email [email protected].
