SEPTEMBER 22, FRIDAY
FIRST FALL MORNING HIKE
9-10:30 a.m. at Chattahoochee Bend State Park, 425 Bobwhite Way, Newnan
This is the first official day of Fall. Join the naturalist on our riverside trail for a morning hike and say goodbye to Summer, but hello to Fall. This program is $4 a person, and there is a 20-person limit. Call the visitor center to pre-register at 770-254-7271.
HUGE CHILDREN’S CONSIGNMENT SALE
9 a.m.-5 p.m. at Newnan First United Methodist Church, 33 Greenville Street, Newnan
This huge two-day event is a children’s consignment sale that benefits the preschool. There is a Spring and Fall sale each year at the school where they offer sizes preemie/NB to size 14-16 for girls and boys, feeding related items, bedding, toys, furniture and accessories, infant gear, books, videos and shoes. Items are screened carefully in order to provide shoppers with the highest quality of gently used and new items. Sellers get to shop early at a preview night sale so please consider consigning items to find the best bargains. Customers are asked to bring their own shopping bags. This sale will be cash or check only.
LUNCH & LEARN: Story of Historic Bellevue
Noon-1 p.m. at Newnan Carnegie Library, 1 LaGrange Street, Newnan
Built in 1853-1855, the historic Bellevue mansion in LaGrange was the home of Senator Benjamin Harvey Hill. Regarded as one of the state’s finest examples of Greek Revival architecture, it was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1973 and is open to the public as a museum today. Please join the Newnan Carnegie Library Foundation and special guest speaker Stacy Hummer, an Air Force veteran, as she provides a multimedia presentation highlighting the mansion’s notable structure and valuables. KIWANIS COWETA COUNTY FAIR

Exhibit Hall opens 5-9 p.m. Day 9 of the 2023 Kiwanis Coweta County Fair. Entertainment includes Midway rides, Ken Scott Magic, Bob Seymore The Living Statue, Inflatables, Games, Corn Maze, Iron P Homestead Petting Zoo, Venus de Hooplah, Coweta County Fair Beauty Pageant, the 4-H Showmanship Sweepstakes and Nightly Character Show. Free Parking. Gate admission is $10, children 5 and under are Free. Ride Armbands $40.
FALL ART WALK
5-9 p.m. in downtown Newnan
One of the best ways to kick off the fall season in downtown Newnan is to take part in the festivities of the 2023 Fall Art Walk. This Main Street Newnan event will take place in-and-around the downtown Newnan Courthouse Square. The Art Walk Event is Newnan’s celebration of local art and is hosted twice a year. It allows folks to see art come to life on city’s sidewalks. During the Art Walk, businesses extend their hours to host storefront exhibits and demonstrations curated by a variety of Newnan’s finest artists. Some of the local businesses will have specials and promotions throughout the night.Visitors can expect to stroll through over 25 locations and see the work of at least 40 artists which will display a wide variety of art styles and mediums, including oil on canvas, chalk art, engraving, pottery, photography, jewelry making, fiber arts, performing arts and acrylics. There is no fee for admission to this event.

William Goldman’s Misery follows successful romance novelist Paul Sheldon, who is rescued from a car crash by his “number one fan,” Annie Wilkes, and wakes up captive in her secluded home. While Paul is convalescing, Annie reads his latest book and becomes enraged when she discovers the author has killed off her favorite character, Misery Chastain. Annie forces Paul to write a new Misery novel, and he quickly realizes Annie has no intention of letting him go anywhere. The irate Annie has Paul writing as if his life depends on it, and it does. 16TH ANNUAL DRAGON BOAT FESTIVAL
8 a.m.-4 p.m. at Drake Field, 155 Willowbend Road, Peachtree City
The Dragon Boat Festival is an annual community event sponsored by the Rotary Club of Peachtree City. The objective is to raise the awareness of our cultural diversity and increase interest in international commerce through the interaction of the community, business, and the arts. The Rotary Club invites everyone to come and enjoy all our food, entertainment, kid’s activities and more while you cheer for your favorite Dragon Boat Race Team!

We’ll kick off the day with a 1-mile fun run at 8 a.m. for families, kids and pups, with our timed 5K following behind at 8:30 a.m. After racing, guests can enjoy more paw-some things for the whole family – like live entertainment, pet vendors, a doggo splash zone, photo backdrop and activities for the kids! It is a community-oriented marketplace that features a variety of local farmers, food producers, artisans, and craftsmen. You can find a wide selection of fresh produce, including fruits and vegetables, herbs, and flowers. There are also local food producers selling homemade baked goods, jams and jellies, honey, and other artisanal products. The market also features handmade crafts, such as pottery, jewelry, and textiles. Visitors can enjoy live music, food trucks, and other family-friendly activities. EVERY Saturday.
YOUR STATE PARKS DAY – BIRDS, BATS & BEES
9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Chattahoochee Bend State Park, 425 Bobwhite Way, Newnan
Event hosted by Friends of Chattahoochee Bend State Park. The focus this year is on Birds, Bats and Bees! We will be installing Wood Duck boxes, weeding our five pollinator beds and making bat boxes. A bee specialist will be onsite to share information on the importance of bees in the ecosystem. Come enjoy the outdoors while improving the park! Meet at the visitor center at 9 a.m.

GOLF CART SHOW

The Peachtree City community is invited to bring their custom or decorated golf carts to The Avenue for a chance to take home a trophy and bragging rights. Golf carts will compete to be voted “Best in Show” in two categories–business and individual–by center guests. The winner of the individual category will also win a $500 shopping spree at the center. As a free event open to the public, community members can stop by to check out the carts on display and vote for their favorite cart. In addition, guests can enjoy tons of fun with putt-putt golf, browse vendors, enter giveaways and more.

Faith Riders-Change Church hosts a benefit motorcycle ride every year in partnership with Coweta FORCE. This year’s event kicks off at Change Church in Grantville as kickstands are up at 1:30 p.m. and ends at our location in downtown Newnan.
