Thursday: Coweta sets single-day high with 48 new cases of COVID-19

The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Thursday, July 23.

Today, Coweta County established a single-day high for new COVID-19 cases with 48, passing the previous high of 46 set on July 3. Also today, 4 hospitalizations were reported but no deaths. It marked the 9th time in 10 days that Coweta has seen double-digits in new cases. And the 4 hospitalizations were the most since 6 on May 12.

Cumulative totals for Coweta now stand at 1104 cases, 17 deaths and 76 hospitalizations.

Single-day highs for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (48 on July 23); deaths (3 on May 21); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

Georgia posted its third-highest single day totals for new cases with 4,286 on Thursday. There were also 25 deaths, 431 hospitalizations and 67 ICU admits. It’s the 15th time since July 1st the case count has been over 3,000 and the 32nd consecutive day the state has had 1,000-or-more cases in a 24-hour period.

Presently, there are 3,157 people hospitalized in Georgia with COVID-19.

Overall, Georgia has 156,588 cumulative cases, 3360 deaths, 16,353 hospitalizations and 3034 ICU admits.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,689 on July 18); deaths (94 on April 20); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (75 on July 21).
