Wednesday: Coweta COVID cases remain in single digits

THE SKINNY – Coweta County reported 7 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday with 1 hospitalization.
The Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Wednesday, March 31. Below is a summary with data from the Georgia DPH on Coweta County and the state of Georgia.
COWETA COUNTY CASES
Coweta County confirmed 7 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday with 0 deaths and 1 hospitalizations. It’s the 10th time in the past 11 days the county has been in single-digits for cases and the 27th time in March below 20.
In the past 7 days, Coweta has logged 40 COVID cases (5.7 per day), 5 deaths and 5 hospitalizations.
Coweta ended March with 373 cases (12.0 per day) with 30 deaths (0.96 per day) and 29 hospitalizations (0.94 per day). For comparison, here are February’s numbers and per day averages – 886 cases (31.6 per day), 41 deaths (1.5 per day), and 39 hospitalizations (1.4 per day).
The positive test rate of all persons tested in Coweta is 10.2 percent, and in the last two weeks has dropped to 3.4 percent.
Overall, Coweta has confirmed cumulative totals of 8398 cases, 180 deaths (with an additional 12 probable deaths) and 310 hospitalizations since the pandemic began. Coweta ranks 22nd in Georgia (out of 159 counties) in cumulative cases and 19th in deaths due to COVID.
The age group of 55-64 year olds had the most new COVID cases on Wednesday with 2.

GEORGIA CASES
On Wednesday, Georgia confirmed 1089 new COVID-19 cases, the 32nd consecutive day below 2000 cases. Other Wednesday numbers included 74 deaths, 150 hospitalizations and 26 ICU admits. The 150 hospitalizations were the most since 162 on March 2.
Two of four patient census categories increased on Wednesday. ICU Bed Occupancy rose to 2330 (up 3 from Tuesday) or 76.9 percent capacity. The number of In-Patient Hospital Beds in use across the state increased to 12,123 (up 52) or at 80.0 percent capacity.
COVID Patients Hospitalized in Georgia decreased, now standing at 1204 (down 17) which is 7.7 percent of all statewide hospital patients. And Adult Ventilators in use also dropped, now at 1005 (down 1) or 28.0 percent capacity.
The overall positive test rate of all persons tested in Georgia is 10.7 percent, and in the last two weeks, it is at 5.3 percent.
Georgia has confirmed cumulative totals of 852,395 cases, 16,607 deaths, 58,810 hospitalizations and 9624 ICU admits since the pandemic began.
Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (10,379 on Jan. 8); deaths (184 on Feb. 12); hospitalizations (611 on Jan. 6); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
