Tuesday: Coweta adds 14 new cases, 1 death and 1 hospitalization

The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Tuesday, Aug. 4.

Coweta County confirmed 14 new COVID-19 cases today, along with 1 death and 1 hospitalization. The death was of an 82-year-old white male with no underlying health conditions.

It is the 15th consecutive day Coweta has seen double-digit new cases. In those 15 days (since July 21), Coweta has registered 354 cases, 6 deaths and 24 hospitalizations.  In the previous 15 days (July 6-20), Coweta had 242 cases, 0 deaths and 9 hospitalizations.

Cumulative totals for Coweta now stand at 1373 cases, 22 deaths and 95 hospitalizations.

Single-day highs for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (48 on July 23); deaths (3 on May 21); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

Today statewide, Georgia increased slightly in cases (2513, about 250 more than Monday) but had significant rises in deaths with 79, hospitalizations with 302 and ICU admits at 44 from yesterday. The 2513 cases marked the 29th consecutive day Georgia has recorded 2,000-or-more COVID-19 cases in a single day.

Presently, there are 3,094 people in Georgia hospitalized with COVID-19.

Overall, Georgia has 197,948 cumulative cases, 3921 deaths, 19,426 hospitalizations and 3556 ICU admits.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (94 on April 20); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (85 on July 24).
