Tuesday: Coweta adds 34 cases, 2 hospitalizations

THE SKINNY – Coweta County reported 34 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, the most since Feb. 27.
The Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Tuesday, March 9. Below is a summary with data from the Georgia DPH on Coweta County, neighboring counties and the state of Georgia.
COWETA COUNTY CASES
On Tuesday, Coweta County confirmed 34 new COVID-19 cases with 0 deaths and 2 hospitalizations. It was the most cases for the county since 97 on Feb. 27 and 46 on Feb. 26. Coweta extended its streak of double-digit cases to 116 days, dating from Nov. 14.
The county’s 2 hospitalizations yesterday now totals 27 in the past 16 days.
In the past 7 days, Coweta has logged 156 COVID cases (22.3 per day), 8 deaths and 13 hospitalizations.
For March, Coweta has posted 194 cases (21.6 per day) with 9 deaths (1.0 per day) and 15 hospitalizations (1.7 per day). For comparison, here are February’s numbers and per day averages – 886 cases (31.6 per day), 41 deaths (1.5 per day), and 39 hospitalizations (1.4 per day).
The positive test rate of all persons tested in Coweta is 10.6 percent, and in the last two weeks stands at 6.7 percent.
Overall, Coweta has confirmed cumulative totals of 8219 cases, 159 deaths (with an additional 12 probable deaths) and 296 hospitalizations since the pandemic began. Coweta ranks 22nd in Georgia (out of 159 counties) in cumulative cases and 21st in deaths due to COVID.
The age group of 25-34 year olds had the most new COVID cases on Tuesday with 10.

GEORGIA CASES
Georgia confirmed 1037 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, the 10th consecutive day below 2000. Other Tuesday numbers included 7 deaths, 135 hospitalizations and 15 ICU admits.
Two of four census categories slightly dropped on Tuesday. COVID patients hospitalized in Georgia stands at 1537 (down 32 from Monday) which is 10.1 percent of all statewide hospital patients. Adult Ventilators in use also dropped and now stands at 1162 (down 6) or 31.4 percent capacity.
ICU bed occupancy rose on Tuesday to 2413 (up 34) or 79.0 percent capacity. The number of In-Patient Hospital Beds in use across the state also increased to 11,960 (up 296) or at 78.9 percent capacity.
The overall positive test rate of all persons tested in Georgia is 11.0 percent, and in the last two weeks, it is at 6.0 percent.
Georgia has confirmed cumulative totals of 830,114 cases, 15,647 deaths, 56,971 hospitalizations and 9284 ICU admits since the pandemic began.
Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (10,379 on Jan. 8); deaths (184 on Feb. 12); hospitalizations (611 on Jan. 6); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
