Tuesday: Coweta confirms 25 new cases; Georgia has record-high 122 deaths

The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Tuesday, Aug. 11.
Today, Coweta County confirmed 25 new cases of COVID-19 with no deaths and 2 hospitalizations. It’s the 22nd consecutive day Coweta has seen double-digit new cases. In those 22 days (since July 21), Coweta has registered 520 cases (avg. 23.6 per day), 6 deaths and 30 hospitalizations.
Cumulative totals to date for Coweta include 1539 cases, 22 deaths and 101 hospitalizations.
Single-day highs for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (48 on July 23); deaths (3 on May 21); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).
Georgia set a single-day high with 122 deaths in Tuesday’s report, shattering the previous high of 94 set on April 20. In addition, Georgia had 3563 new cases, 355 hospitalizations and 65 ICU admits. This was 36th consecutive day the state has recorded 2,000-or-more COVID-19 cases in a single day.
Presently, there are 2881 people in Georgia hospitalized with COVID-19, which is an increase of 10 from yesterday.
Overall, Georgia now stands at 222,588 cumulative cases, 4351 deaths, 21,031 hospitalizations and 3832 ICU admits.
Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (85 on July 24).
