Tuesday: Coweta records 16 new COVID-19 cases

The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Tuesday, Aug. 25.

Coweta County confirmed 16 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, with no deaths or hospitalizations reported. The 16 cases, coupled with yesterday’s 11, is the lowest two-day total (27) since a combined 24 cases on July 15 and 16. However, it’s the 36th consecutive day that Coweta has registered double-digit cases.

In August, Coweta has seen 745 cases or 29.8 per day. It’s the most in one month since the pandemic began, surpassing the previous high of 629 in July.

Cumulative totals to date for Coweta include 2041 cases, 26 deaths and 107 hospitalizations.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (63 on Aug. 14); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

Today, Georgia continued its streak of days below 3,000 cases with 2101. It was the 10th day in-a-row to do so.

The headlining number statewide on Tuesday was deaths. Georgia had its 2nd-highest number of deaths in a single day with 106, trailing only 122 on Aug. 11. Other Tuesday totals included 292 hospitalizations and 50 ICU admits.

Presently, there are 2260 people hospitalized in Georgia with COVID-19, a decrease of 90 from Monday.

Overall, Georgia now stands at 258,354 cases, 5262 deaths, 23,717 hospitalizations and 4322 ICU admits.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
