Tuesday: Coweta reports 17 new COVID-19 cases

The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Tuesday, Sept. 1.
Today, Coweta County confirmed 17 new cases of COVID-19, one day after posting only 5 and breaking a string of 41 consecutive days in double-digits. No deaths or hospitalizations were reported on Tuesday. The report also indicated 129 PCR tests were confirmed in Coweta County on Tuesday with a 12.4 percent positive rate. Tuesday’s cases move the Coweta cumulative total to 2266, up from Monday’s sum of 2249. Other cumulative totals to date include 26 deaths and 108 hospitalizations. The death totals are likely to change after four new deaths were included in today’s Long-Term Care Facility Report (listed below).
Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (66 on Aug. 26); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).
Statewide on Tuesday, Georgia confirmed 2,226 new cases of COVID-19. It’s the 17th straight day below 3,000 cases. Other Tuesday numbers were 101 deaths (5th-highest single day total), 243 hospitalizations and 44 ICU admits.
Presently, there are 1916 people hospitalized in Georgia with COVID-19, a decrease of 16 from Monday.
Overall, Georgia now stands at 272,697 cases, 5733 deaths, 24,847 hospitalizations and 4537 ICU admits.
Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
