From Staff Reports

A strong cold front will rapidly push through Coweta County later today and bring with it Wind Chill temperatures that could reach single digits, according to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.

Coweta will see partly sunny skies today with a high near 49 degrees before the front moves through. Winds from the Northwest will increase to 10-15 mph, gusting to 20 in the afternoon. As the sun goes down, temperatures are expected to drop to around 21 as those same Northwest winds remain around 15 mph, gusting to 25, which will push the Wind Chill temperatures down to the low teens and possibly single digits.

On Saturday, folks can expect sunny skies with those strong Northwest winds continuing as gusts could reach 20 mph. The high only reaches 37 and will keep the Wind Chill temps well below freezing. Overnight, the winds begin to subside under clear skies with a low  near 22.

Sunday’s forecast is much warmer as the winds switch and come from the Southwest, helping the high temperature reach 52 under sunny skies. Monday will be even warmer with sunny skies and a high of 58.

The National Weather Service has also issued a Fire Weather Watch from Saturday morning through Saturday evening as low humidity and high winds mean there is a high potential for any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
