Weather: Colder temperatures arrive in Coweta for the weekend

The official start to Winter is five days away, though it would be hard to argue that point in Coweta County this weekend.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City is forecasting high temperatures in the 40s on Saturday and Sunday with overnight lows dipping into the 20s.

Today will be the warmest of the three-day set with a high forecast of 52 degrees under sunny skies. Tonight’s low will fall to 35.

On Saturday, a slight 20 percent rain chance is possible with mostly cloudy skies and a high of only 48. Saturday night will be mostly clear and the temperature drops to 27.

Then on Sunday, sunny skies return but with a high of 46. The overnight low Sunday will be 26.

The work week begins on Monday with mostly sunny skies and  a high of 50.

FRIDAY – Patchy frost before 9am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 52. Light west wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph.

FRIDAY NIGHT – Partly cloudy, with a low around 35. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

SATURDAY – A 20 percent chance of rain after 11am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 48. Light west wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph.

SATURDAY NIGHT – Mostly clear, with a low around 27. Northwest wind around 5 mph.

SUNDAY – Sunny, with a high near 46. Northwest wind around 5 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

MONDAY – Mostly sunny, with a high near 50.
