Wednesday: Coweta confirms 29 new cases of COVID-19

The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Wednesday, Aug. 12.

Coweta County confirmed 29 new cases of COVID-19 today with no deaths or hospitalizations. For the month of August, Coweta has recorded 272 cases or an average of 22.7 per day. It’s the 23rd consecutive day Coweta has seen double-digit new cases. In those 23 days (since July 21), Coweta has registered 549 cases, 6 deaths and 30 hospitalizations.

Cumulative totals to date for Coweta include 1568 cases, 22 deaths and 101 hospitalizations.

Single-day highs for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (48 on July 23); deaths (3 on May 21); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

Today, Georgia set another single-day high with 97 ICU admits, bettering the previous high of 85 on July 24. It was also the 2nd-straight day Georgia had over 100 deaths with 105 on Wednesday after posting 122 deaths on Tuesday. Georgia added 3565 cases and 348 hospitalizations today as well. This was 37th consecutive day the state has recorded 2,000-or-more COVID-19 cases in a single day.

Presently, there are 2865 people in Georgia hospitalized with COVID-19, which is a decrease of 16 from yesterday.

Regarding hospitalizations … Among Critical Care Beds in Georgia, 87 percent are in use (13 percent available). Among General Inpatient Beds in Georgia, 83 percent are in use (17 percent available). Among Total Emergency Rooms in Georgia, 51 percent are in use (49 percent available). The total of Adult Ventilators in Georgia is 2,871. Presently, 1,272 (44 percent) are in use and 1,599 (56 percent) are available.

Overall, Georgia now stands at 226,153 cumulative cases, 4456 deaths, 21,379 hospitalizations and 3929 ICU admits.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
