Weather: Coldest temperatures of the season arrive Tuesday

The latest run of mild temperatures here in Coweta County is about to come to a brief end beginning early Tuesday morning.

A strong cold front will move through the area later today and with it will come gusty winds and overnight temperatures that will drop into the 30s. 

In fact, the National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Watch for Coweta and surrounding counties beginning late Tuesday night through Wednesday morning. A Freeze Watch means that temperatures can be as low as 30 degrees which could kill crops, sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

Mostly sunny conditions will exist the entire week with the difference in the most recent weather pattern – the temperatures. The high forecast for today is 74, but then it drops almost 20 degrees with Tuesday’s high expected to be near 55. The high on Wednesday is forecast for 57, then 62 for Thursday and 68 Friday.

Overnight lows will be 36 tonight, 32 on Tuesday, 32 on Wednesday and 36 on Thursday. 

Rain is not present in the extended forecast through Saturday.

MONDAY – Mostly sunny, with a high near 74. West wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

MONDAY NIGHT – Mostly clear, with a low around 36. Northwest wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

TUESDAY – Patchy frost before 9am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 55. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

WEDNESDAY – Sunny, with a high near 57. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

THURSDAY – Sunny, with a high near 62.

FRIDAY – Sunny, with a high near 68.

SATURDAY – Sunny, with a high near 73.
