Weather: Cooler but rain chances appear daily in this week’s forecast

The triple-digit heat index values will not be around Coweta County this week as cooler temperatures and more clouds settle in, says the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.
Coweta County posted three consecutive days of 100-degree heat index values on Wednesday (103), Thursday (100) and Friday (103) of last week at the Newnan-Coweta County Airport weather station. Those kind of values are not in this week’s forecast as highs are expected to be 84 today, 88 Tuesday, 85 Wednesday, then dropping to 80 on Thursday and 82 on Friday.
The NWS says to expect mostly cloudy skies all week. Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will be possible each afternoon and evening with higher chances – 50 percent or more – beginning Wednesday. The best chance for rain appears to be Wednesday with the probability listed at 70 percent during the day, 60 percent that evening.
Overnight lows will be near 70.

FRIDAY – A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 82.
