Weather: Dry, Breezy weekend in store for Coweta

There is some truth this weekend about those sayings of “March Winds.” Those winds will indeed be present here in Coweta County today through Sunday, says the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.

Today, folks can expect partly sunny skies with a high near 65 degrees. The winds will be from the West at 5 to 15 mph, gusting to 20. And tonight, the low drops to near 39 and the wind kicks from the Northwest at 5-10, gusting to 20.

On Saturday, sunshine remains with a high of 63. West winds will be 10-15, gusting to 30. Saturday night will be clear and cold with a low of 36 and Northwest winds still churning at 10-15, gusting to 25.

The NWS has also issued a Fire Weather Watch for Coweta County and surrounding areas on from noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday. This watch is due to low humidity and high winds in addition to dry fuels. Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

Sunday, it’s sunny skies with a high near 61. Northwest wind will be slightly lighter at 5-10 mph, gusting to 15.

Not only are Coweta County residents dealing with the wind, but now add Pollen to the weekend as well. According to the Atlanta Allergy & Asthma, Thursday’s Pollen Count of 987 was the highest of 2022. It will likely continue to rise early next week with dry and sunny conditions, plus 80-degree temperatures beginning Tuesday. Tree pollen was the top contributor yesterday to the count (pine, oak, hackberry, sweet gum and walnut) in the high range. Other contributors – grass (low range), weeds (moderate) and mold (moderate).

SUNDAY – Sunny, with a high near 61. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

MONDAY – Mostly sunny, with a high near 72.
