Weather: Mother’s Day Forecast for Coweta includes plenty of sunshine

Folks can expect sunny skies for this Mother’s Day weekend here in Coweta County, according to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.

The Mother’s Day weekend starts off a bit on the chilly side this morning as an overnight cold front moved through the area. Today’s (Friday) high will only reach 70 degrees with breezy conditions as winds will be out of the Northwest at 10-15 mph, gusting to 25. Tonight’s low will drop to near 46.

On Saturday, a slight warming trend begins with West winds only at 5 mph and a high slated for 76. The #NewnanStrong Music and Arts Tornado Relief Benefit set for Saturday evening should have partly cloudy skies with lows reaching around 55 closer to midnight.

And on Mother’s Day, mostly sunny skies are in the forecast with a high near 83. South winds do pick up slightly and will be 5-15 mph, gusting to 20.

A rain chance of 40 percent moves in Sunday night, before increasing to 80 percent on Monday with a high of 76.

FRIDAY NIGHT – Mostly clear, with a low around 46. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

SATURDAY – Sunny, with a high near 76. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph in the morning.

SATURDAY NIGHT – Partly cloudy, with a low around 55. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph.

SUNDAY – Mostly sunny, with a high near 83. South wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

SUNDAY NIGHT – A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63.

MONDAY – Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 76. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
