Weather: Possible strong storms today, nice weekend ahead

The weekend forecast for Coweta looks to be a nice one with mostly sunny skies and high temperatures near 65.
But first things first. The National Weather Service in Peachtree City says a strong and fast-moving cold front will be pushing through the area today, bringing a line of scattered storms which the possibility of hail, damaging winds, heavy rain, frequent lightning and an isolated brief tornado or two cannot be ruled out. The timeline for the storms to move through Coweta County will be between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Today’s high will be near 66 degrees with Southeast winds 5-10 mph, gusting to 15. Rain chances are listed at 90 percent with amounts of three-quarters to an inch possible.
Tonight, a 40 percent chance of scattered showers remains behind the front with the overnight low at 51.
After a cloudy start to Saturday morning, the remainder of the day will be mostly sunny with a high reaching 64. West winds will be 10-15 mph, with gusts to 20. Saturday night’s low is forecast at 41.
And on Sunday, sunny skies with a high of 65. Northwest winds will be 5-10 mph, gusting to 15.
The work week begins under sunny skies on Monday with a high of 71.
