Weather: Rain expected Saturday, dry and cooler on Sunday

As was the case a week ago, Coweta County will have a wet first half of its weekend with cooler, dry air moving in on the back half.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City says to expect cloudy skies and a slight chance of rain (10 percent) today, then increasing to 40 percent overnight. Today’s high will be near 70 degrees. 

On Saturday, a cold front moves through Coweta as rain chances rise to 70 percent during the day, 80 percent overnight. The high will also be near 70 degrees. 

Then on Sunday after the front passes, cooler temperatures and mostly cloudy skies will be the forecast as the high will be near 56 with North wind at 10 mph, gusting to 15. The overnight low Sunday will drop to 38.

It will be cooler on Monday with a high of only 51.

FRIDAY – A 10 percent chance of showers after 5pm. Widespread fog before noon. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 70. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph.

FRIDAY NIGHT – A 40 percent chance of showers, mainly after 9pm. Widespread fog after 3am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 58. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph after midnight.

SATURDAY – Showers likely, with thunderstorms also possible after noon. Widespread fog before 7am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 70. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

SATURDAY NIGHT – Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 1am, then a chance of showers. Low around 46. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

SUNDAY – Mostly cloudy, with a high near 56. North wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

MONDAY – Mostly cloudy, with a high near 51.
