Weather: Soggy weekend ahead for Coweta

Coweta County can expect lots of clouds, showers and thunderstorms and high temperatures in the upper 70s this weekend, says the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.
Remnants of Tropical Storm Nicholas continue to hang around as rain chances go from 40 percent today to 70 percent on Saturday and 80 percent on Sunday. And if you can believe it, Monday’s extended forecast calls for a 90 percent chance of rain.
Today will not be a total washout as rain is expected to be isolated. The National Weather Service lists the high at 79 degrees today with rain chances at 40 percent, before dropping to 30 percent tonight.
Showers and thunderstorms are likely after 11 a.m. on Saturday with a high of 78 degrees. Almost an identical forecast for Sunday with showers and thunderstorms likely after 2 p.m. with a high of 79.
Overnight lows will be in the upper 60s all weekend.
In the extended forecast, a cold front is expected to move through Georgia late Tuesday which will bring much drier weather.

SATURDAY – Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 11am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. Calm wind becoming east around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
SATURDAY NIGHT – A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. Calm wind.
SUNDAY – A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. High near 79. Calm wind becoming east around 5 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
SUNDAY NIGHT – Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Low around 69. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
