Weather: Spring-like temperatures today, Saturday; winter returns Sunday

Folks here in Coweta County will experience essentially two seasons this weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.

Today and Saturday, spring-like temperatures under sunny skies will be in place in Coweta. Look for high temperatures of 69 today and 66 on Saturday with an overnight low this evening of 40 degrees. For comparison, Thursday’s high at the Newnan-Coweta Airport was 66.

Then things return to winter late Saturday night and Sunday. A cold front passes through Saturday night bringing clouds along with a temperature drop to below freezing at 31. The high only climbs to 48 with a strong Northwest wind of 10 mph, gusting to 20 on Sunday. And Sunday’s overnight low will be in the mid-20s, near 25. 

It warms up slightly on Monday under sunny skies. The high will be 52.

FRIDAY – Patchy frost before 9am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 69. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

FRIDAY NIGHT – Clear, with a low around 40. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

SATURDAY – Sunny, with a high near 66. West wind 5 to 10 mph.

SATURDAY NIGHT – Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. Northwest wind around 10 mph.

SUNDAY – Sunny, with a high near 48. Northwest wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

MONDAY – Sunny, with a high near 52.
