Weather: Sunny Good Friday, rain enters Saturday and Easter Sunday forecast

Rain is in the Easter Weekend forecast for Coweta County, but it shouldn’t be a complete washout.

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, the Easter Weekend begins with a sunny Good Friday and a high temperature of 78 degrees. North winds will be 5-15 mph, gusting to 20.Tonight, folks can expect mostly clear skies and a low of 57 with clouds increasing after midnight.

Showers and thunderstorms will arrive Saturday morning with a 100 percent rain chance, mainly before 11 a.m. The rain chance drops to 60 percent and lower in the afternoon with a high of 75 degrees. Southwest wind will be 5-10 mph. The overnight low will be 54 with a rain chance of only 30 percent. 

On Easter Sunday, the NWS says it will be partly sunny with a high of 75. Rain chances increase to 50 percent later in the day. 

Rain remains in the forecast to start the work week with an 80 percent chance on Monday and a high of only 68.

FRIDAY NIGHT – A 10 percent chance of showers after 5am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 57. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

SATURDAY – Showers and thunderstorms before 11am, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 11am and 1pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. High near 75. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

SATURDAY NIGHT – A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9pm, then a slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 54. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

SUNDAY – A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 9am. Partly sunny, with a high near 75. North wind around 5 mph becoming east in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

MONDAY – Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 9am, then a chance of showers. High near 68. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
