Weather Week in Coweta: More rain moves in Tuesday

It appears the rain pattern will move back into Georgia overnight, including Coweta County, and stay awhile as rain is forecast every day this week through the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, Coweta County can expect 1.5-2 inches of rain and possibly more through Sunday. The above map shows the amount of rain for the state through Sunday. Parts of north Georgia could see as much as six inches of rain (Dalton area) in that same period.

Today (Monday) will be the best day of the week weather-wise with partly cloudy skies and a high of 57 degrees. Winds will be gusty at 15 mph from the north.

The high temperatures will range from 48 on Tuesday to 72 on Thursday with the lows in the 40s and 50s.

Below is the day-by-day forecast by the NWS:

TODAY – A 30 percent chance of showers before 9am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 57. North wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

TUESDAY – Showers likely, mainly after 11am. Cloudy, with a high near 48. East wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

WEDNESDAY – Rain likely before 8am, then a chance of showers between 8am and 2pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. Cloudy, with a high near 58. East wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

THURSDAY – Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 72. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

FRIDAY – Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 71. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
