The National Weather Service in Peachtree City says to expect a typical summer weather pattern this first week of July here in Coweta County.

Simply put, hot and humid with a chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Rinse and repeat.

Looking ahead to Independence Day on Thursday, the forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with a high near 93 degrees and a 30 percent chance of rain. That means the July 4th parade in downtown Newnan will likely be clear of any rain chances with only a slight chance of rain in the evening when the Fireworks Show takes place at Newnan High.

Below is a day-by-day forecast for the upcoming week from the National Weather Service:

MONDAY – A 10 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4pm. Sunny, with a high near 92. Heat index values as high as 97. Northwest wind around 5 mph.

TUESDAY – A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 92. Heat index values as high as 99. Northwest wind around 5 mph.
