Weather Week: Rain moves in tonight; weekend to be nice

Just when you thought Coweta County had finally escaped the rainy weather pattern of December, here comes another round tonight, Thursday and Friday according to the National Weather Service.

The good news … the weekend forecast looks fabulous with sunny skies and highs near 60 degrees.

Rain possibilities increase after 4 p.m. today as a 60 percent chance is forecast for late afternoon. It rises to 80 percent overnight and into Thursday morning.

Friday begins with a 90 percent rain chance before the system starts to move out and sunshine prevails on Saturday and Sunday.

Look for highs around 60 degrees and lows in the high 40s through Friday.

The day-by-day breakdown per the NWS (as of 7 a.m. today) is below:

TODAY – Showers likely, mainly after 4pm. Patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 61. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

THURSDAY – Showers likely, mainly before 10am. Patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 56. Northwest wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

FRIDAY – Showers. High near 62. East wind 5 to 10 mph becoming south in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

SATURDAY – Mostly sunny, with a high near 56.

SUNDAY – Sunny, with a high near 63.
