Weather Week: Rain overnight and Tuesday, clearing and colder Wednesday

A strong cold front will move through Coweta County overnight and into Tuesday bringing strong winds and possible thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.

Rain chances increase to 90 percent overnight and 100 percent on Tuesday as high temperatures remain in the 60s. South winds will be 10 mph, gusting to 20 as the front moves through.

Once the cold front passes, skies clear, temperatures drop and the winds come from the North. Wednesday morning’s low will be 30 degrees and the high only 47. The Thursday morning low is expected to be 28.

Below is the day-by-day forecast from the NWS:

MONDAY – A 20 percent chance of showers after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 68. South wind 5 to 10 mph.

MONDAY NIGHT – Showers likely, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 1am. Steady temperature around 61. South wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

TUESDAY – Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before noon, then a chance of showers. Temperature falling to around 47 by 5pm. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

TUESDAY NIGHT – Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30. Northwest wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

WEDNESDAY – Sunny, with a high near 47. Northwest wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

THURSDAY – Sunny, with a high near 51.

FRIDAY – Mostly sunny, with a high near 52.
