THE SKINNY – Coweta County confirmed 2 deaths due to COVID-19 on Wednesday, pushing February’s total to 5.

The Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Wednesday, Feb. 3.

COWETA COUNTY CASES

Coweta County confirmed 33 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, including 2 deaths and 0 hospitalizations. It’s the 82nd consecutive day Coweta has reported double-digit cases and the 37th straight day above 20.

For the month of February, Coweta has posted 90 cases (30.0 per day), 5 deaths and 1 hospitalization.

The positive test rate of all persons tested in Coweta is 10.9 percent, and in the last two weeks, is at 11.7 percent.

Overall, Coweta has confirmed cumulative totals of 7229 cases, 114 deaths (with an additional 8 probable deaths) and 247 hospitalizations since the pandemic began.

GEORGIA CASES

On Wednesday, Georgia confirmed 3816 new cases of COVID-19 including 135 deaths, 268 hospitalizations and 32 ICU admits. It is the 23rd day in which Georgia has registered 100-or-more deaths due to COVID.

Today’s 3816 cases came after back-to-back days below 3000 (2581 on Monday, 2964 on Tuesday). Georgia has had 3000-or-more cases in 36 of the past 38 days.

Presently, 3910 people in Georgia are hospitalized with COVID, which is 23.6 percent of all statewide hospital patients. The number of In-Patient Hospital Beds in use across the state on Wednesday is at 12,786 or at 83.5 percent capacity. ICU bed occupancy is at 2655 or 84.9 percent capacity. Adult Ventilators in use is at 1483 or 40.2 percent capacity.

The overall positive test rate of all persons tested in Georgia is 11.3 percent, and in the last two weeks, it is at 13.6 percent.

To date, Georgia has recorded cumulative totals of 759,228 cases, 12,907 deaths, 50,953 hospitalizations and 8471 ICU admits since the pandemic began.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (10,379 on Jan. 8); deaths (170 on Jan. 19); hospitalizations (611 on Jan. 6); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
