Sunday: Coweta surpasses 2,500 cases of COVID-19

The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Sunday, Sept. 20.

Today, Coweta County confirmed 6 new cases of COVID-19 to surpass the cumulative mark of 2500 cases. Sunday’s cases push the Coweta cumulative total to 2505. There were no deaths or hospitalizations included in today’s report. And the 6 cases were the lowest single-day total in a week (6 on Sept. 13).

Coweta’s cumulative totals to date also include 41 deaths and 122 hospitalizations. The overall positive rate for tests in Coweta is 8.6 percent.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (66 on Aug. 26); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

Across the state, Georgia confirmed 1134 new cases which was the lowest amount of single-day cases since 1023 on Sept. 14. It also marks the 36th consecutive day below 3,000 (last day was Aug. 15 with 3273). Other Sunday numbers included 3 deaths (lowest since 2 on Aug. 2), 39 hospitalizations and 10 ICU admits.

Presently, there are 1420 people hospitalized in Georgia with COVID-19, up 3 from Saturday.

Overall, Georgia now has cumulative totals of 306,155 cases, 6602 deaths, 27,377 hospitalizations and 5002 ICU admits. The overall rate for positive tests is 10.3 percent.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
