Weekend Report: Coweta reports 32 cases, 2 hospitalizations

The Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Sunday, Nov. 29.

COWETA COUNTY CASES

Coweta County confirmed 32 new cases of COVID-19 including 2 hospitalizations and 0 deaths over the weekend. On Saturday, Coweta confirmed 19 cases and 1 hospitalization while on Sunday, another 13 cases were reported with 1 hospitalization. Sunday was the 16th consecutive day with double-digit cases dating from Nov. 13.

Other surrounding counties and their respective case increases over the weekend are as follows: Fulton added 383 cases (9 deaths), Carroll 46, Fayette 45, Spalding 23 (1 death), Troup 11, and Meriwether and Heard both 2.

For the month of November, Coweta has posted 620 cases for a daily rate of 21.4. There have been 5 deaths and 25 hospitalizations. This month is the 3rd-highest in cases for Coweta since the pandemic began, trailing August with 953 and July with 629, while the hospitalizations is the 2nd-highest behind only July (32).

To date, Coweta has confirmed cumulative totals of 3633 cases, 68 deaths and 177 hospitalizations. The overall positive test rate is 7.9 percent, and in the last two weeks, it’s 10.2 percent.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (67 on Nov. 17); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

GEORGIA CASES

Over the weekend, Georgia confirmed 4,298 cases including 32 deaths, 177 hospitalizations and 29 ICU admits. On Saturday, Georgia had 2633 cases and 1665 on Sunday.

Presently, there are 2,158 people in Georgia hospitalized with COVID, which is 15.1 percent of all statewide patients. The number of In-Patient Hospital Beds in use across the state is 11,182 or 74.8 percent capacity. ICU bed occupancy is 2,357 as of Sunday, 80.4 percent capacity.

Overall, Georgia has recorded cumulative totals of 420,601 cases, 8778 deaths, 34,782 hospitalizations and 6493 ICU admits. The age group in Georgia with the most cases by far is 18-29 year olds with 103,403, followed by 30-39 year olds with 68,507.

The overall positive test rate is 9.2 percent, and in the last two weeks, it’s 7.9 percent.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
