Another weekend of family fun and events is in store here in the Coweta County area.
On Friday, folks can learn to play poker at Monarch House Assisted Living in Newnan and later stroll over to Peachtree City for the start of the Smokin Bike Fest, a world-class BBQ and BMX event.
Saturday offers up Market Day on the downtown Newnan Square, the 12th Annual Hydrangea Festival in Douglasville, a performance of the Wizard of Oz at the Wadsworth Auditorium in Newnan and music from the 1970s with a concert by John Ford Coley and Firefall at Southern Ground Amphitheater in Fayetteville.
And Sunday, its the last day of the 2019 Georgia Renaissance Festival in Fairburn and you can listen to some 1980s and 1990s music from Joan Jett and the Blackhearts at The Fred Amphitheater in Peachtree City.
Weather-wise, still plenty of sunshine all three days as the early heat wave continues. Saturday’s high though drops to 87 degrees. The National Weather Service lists virtually no chance of rain.

This free service is offered to take riders from downtown Newnan to Ashley Park. Runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Pickup locations at City Hall, the Governor Ellis Arnall Parking Lot on Madison Street, and Ashley Park at Dillard’s (West Entrance) and Regal Cinemas. The first pickup is at 1 p.m. at City Hall with the last full route starting at 7 p.m.

Floating for Families Duck Race

Market Day in Downtown Newnan
Market Day is the very first Saturday of each month from April to December in downtown Newnan. The Market features over 50 vendors made up of local artisans, artists and farmers offering handmade, homemade and homegrown products, with new vendors and new products each month. Market Day favorites include: fresh locally grown produce, honey, jams & jellies, salsa, pottery, art, freshly baked goods, handmade furniture, birdhouses, wood art, and much more! Pickin’ on the Square also occurs simultaneously each month during the Market Day. It’s the vernacular sounds of local musicians playing acoustic music around the Courthouse Lawn and side streets. Georgia Renaissance Festival
