Weekend Weather for Coweta: Rain from Hurricane Delta arrives

Even though Hurricane Delta will make landfall this evening in southwest Louisiana, its effects will be felt through the weekend here in Coweta County.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City says rain chances begin today at 30 percent and increase to 70 percent tonight, 50 percent Saturday, and 70 percent Sunday. Winds will be around 10 mph with gusts to 15 under most cloudy skies.

High temperatures will be in the upper 70s with lows in the upper 60s.

The rain moves out Monday as partly sunny skies return with only a 20 percent rain chance.

Below is the day-by-day forecast (subject to change) from the NWS:

FRIDAY – A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. East wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

FRIDAY NIGHT – Showers and thunderstorms likely. Cloudy, with a low around 66. East wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

SATURDAY – A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 11am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 77. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

SATURDAY NIGHT – Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. Southeast wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

SUNDAY – Showers likely, with thunderstorms also possible after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 77. South wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

SUNDAY NIGHT – A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
