Friday: Coweta reports 11 new cases, 3 deaths

The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Friday, Oct. 9.

COWETA COUNTY CASES

Coweta County confirmed 11 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday with 3 deaths. The deaths were of a 49-year-old white male, a 90-plus-year-old black female and a 50-year-old black male. All three did not have any underlying conditions.

The 3 Coweta deaths were the most in a single day since 3 on Sept. 12. Coweta has recorded 8 deaths in the month of October due to COVID and 29 since Sept. 1.

To date, Coweta has registered cumulative totals of 2718 cases, 55 deaths and 136 hospitalizations. The overall positive test rate is 8.2 percent, and in the last two weeks, it’s 4.9 percent.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (66 on Aug. 26); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

GEORGIA CASES

In Georgia on Friday, the state confirmed 1625 cases (up 360 from Thursday’s total), 54 deaths (up 19 from Thursday), 124 hospitalizations (up 46 from Thursday) and 29 ICU admits (up 15 from yesterday). It’s the 20th consecutive day Georgia has been below 2,000 cases in a day, the 55th straight day below 3,000.

Presently, there are 1247 people in Georgia hospitalized, down 37 from Thursday.

Overall, Georgia has recorded cumulative totals of 329,032 cases, 7348 deaths, 29,510 hospitalizations and 5482 ICU admits. The overall positive test rate is 9.9 percent and in the last 2 weeks, it’s 5.7 percent.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
