Coweta County records most COVID-related hospitalizations in a month

Another COVID-related milestone fell earlier this week as Coweta County confirmed the most hospitalizations in a month since this pandemic began in March 2020.

Coweta County posted 38 hospitalizations over the weekend and another 10 on Tuesday for a now record-high total of 138 during the month of September. The previous monthly high was 95 hospitalizations recorded just last month. And prior to that, the highest monthly total was only 39 twice – April and February of 2021.

With nine days left in September, the county is averaging 6.6 hospitalizations per day. In fact, the top five daily totals for hospitalizations here in Coweta have occurred this month – 25 on Sept. 14, 20 on Sept. 3, 17 on Sept. 8, 14 on Sept. 9 and 10 yesterday.

In September, Coweta owns cumulative totals of 1,270 COVID-19 cases (60.5 per day), 30 deaths and the record-high 138 hospitalizations. 

Coweta County has now eclipsed 12,000 COVID-19 cases overall with a total of 12,024 since the pandemic started. The county has 265 deaths (with 18 more probables) overall and 650 hospitalizations.
