Friday: Coweta adds 39 cases of COVID, 3 hospitalizations

The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Friday, Nov. 20.

COWETA COUNTY CASES

Coweta County confirmed 39 additional cases of COVID-19 on Friday including 3 hospitalizations and 0 deaths. The 3 hospitalizations were the most since 3 on Oct. 29.

In the past 4 days, Coweta has recorded 196 cases (67-40-50-39) – the highest consecutive 4-day total since 211 from Aug. 12-15. This week beginning Sunday, the county has posted 228 cases (38.0 per day), 2 deaths and 3 hospitalizations – which is the most cases in a week since 258 from Aug. 23-29.

The age group of 45-54 year olds in Coweta had the most new cases today with 10, followed by 55-64 year olds with 8 new cases. Coweta now has 378 cases during the month of November for a daily rate of 18.9. Last month, October’s daily rate was 12.4 cases.

Other surrounding counties and case increases on Friday – Carroll added 61 cases, Fayette 39, Troup 15, Spalding 8, Heard 4 and Meriwether 3.

To date, Coweta has registered cumulative totals of 3391 cases, 66 deaths and 162 hospitalizations. The overall positive test rate is 7.8 percent, and in the last two weeks, it’s 8.1 percent.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (67 on Nov. 17); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

GEORGIA CASES

On Friday, Georgia confirmed 2769 cases (up 108 from Thursday’s totals), 22 deaths (down 11), 119 hospitalizations (up 8) and 13 ICU admits (down 8).  Georgia has now had 4 consecutive days of 2500 cases or more, the last time that happened was Aug. 12-15.

Presently, there are 1,800 people in Georgia hospitalized with COVID, up 35 from Thursday which makes is 11.6 percent of statewide hospital beds. ICU bed occupancy went down again on Friday, dropping 6 from yesterday to 2400, which is 82.6 percent capacity.

Overall, Georgia has recorded cumulative totals of 399,410 cases, 8591 deaths, 33,897 hospitalizations and 6340 ICU admits. The overall positive test rate is 9.2 percent, and in the last two weeks, it’s 8.4 percent.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
