The Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Friday, Dec. 11.

COWETA COUNTY CASES

On Friday, Coweta County confirmed 53 new cases of COVID-19 including 1 death and 1 hospitalization. It’s the 10th time Coweta has had 50 cases-or-more in a single day and the 28th consecutive day in double-digits.

For the month of December, the county has registered 403 cases for an average of 36.6 per day with 4 deaths and 10 hospitalizations. The 36.6 daily rate is ahead of the high mark for a month which was 30.7 in August when Coweta had 953 cases.

The age groups of 45-54  and 55-64 year olds had 10 new cases confirmed on Friday, the highest of any groups.

To date, Coweta has confirmed cumulative totals of 4056 cases, 72 deaths and 187 hospitalizations.

The overall positive test rate of all persons tested in Coweta is 8.3 percent, and in the last two weeks, is presently at 11.8 percent.

GEORGIA CASES

Georgia confirmed 4729 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, down 1333 from Thursday’s record-high mark of 6062. Other Friday numbers included 52 deaths, 304 hospitalizations and 42 ICU admits. The 304 hospitalizations were the most since 348 on Aug. 12.

Presently, there are 2834 people in Georgia hospitalized with COVID, which is 17.6 percent of all statewide hospital patients. The number of In-Patient Hospital Beds in use across the state is 12,755 or at 84.1 percent capacity. ICU bed occupancy is 2503 or 85.8 percent capacity. Adult Ventilators in use in GA is presently at 856 or 30.2 percent capacity.

Overall, Georgia has recorded cumulative totals of 466,904 cases, 9175 deaths, 37,321 hospitalizations and 6832 ICU admits.

The overall positive test rate of all persons tested in Georgia is 9.4 percent, and in the last two weeks, it stands at 12.6 percent.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (6062 on Dec. 10); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
