The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Friday, Nov. 13.

COWETA COUNTY CASES

On Friday, Coweta County confirmed 9 new cases of COVID-19 as well as 1 death and 2 hospitalizations. The death was of an 81-year-old white male with no underlying conditions. It was the first death due to COVID in Coweta since Oct. 22.

The age group of 15-24 year olds had 4 of today’s 9 cases, the most among all groups. Coweta now has 128 cases during the month of November for a daily average of 9.8, just below October’s rate of 12.4 (total 385 cases).

To date, Coweta has registered cumulative totals of 3141 cases, 64 deaths and 159 hospitalizations. The overall positive test rate is 7.8 percent, and in the last two weeks, it’s 6.3 percent.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (66 on Aug. 26); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

GEORGIA CASES

Across Georgia on Friday, the state confirmed 2315 cases (down 181 from Thursday’s totals). It was the 2nd straight day above 2,000 cases, the first time that’s happened since Labor Day weekend. Georgia does continue its streak of 90 consecutive days staying below 3000 cases.

Georgia also reported 15 deaths on Friday (down 55), 142 hospitalizations (up 1) and 20 ICU admits (no change).

Presently, there are 1,686 people in Georgia hospitalized with COVID, up 24 from yesterday. ICU patients across the state are at 2471 (up 16 from Wednesday) which is 84.0 percent capacity in Georgia.

Overall, Georgia has recorded cumulative totals of 382,505 cases, 8418 deaths, 33,089 hospitalizations and 6211 ICU admits. The overall positive test rate is 9.3 percent, and in the last two weeks, it’s 7.8 percent.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
