Friday: Georgia sets single-day record with 4813 new cases of COVID-19

The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Friday, July 24.
Georgia established a new single-day high for new COVID-19 cases today with 4,813, bettering the old mark of 4,689 on July 18. It’s the 16th time since July 1st that the statewide daily count has been over 3,000 and the 33rd consecutive day over 1,000. Also today, Georgia had the second-highest number of deaths with 82, along with 399 hospitalizations and a single-day high for ICU admits with 85, breaking the old high of 75 on July 21.
Presently, there are 3,135 people hospitalized in Georgia with COVID-19.
Overall, Georgia has 161,401 cumulative cases, 3442 deaths, 16,752 hospitalizations and 3119 ICU admits.
Georgia’s new single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (94 on April 20); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (85 on July 24).
Today, Coweta County added 32 new cases, no deaths and 4 hospitalizations, the second straight day with 4. It is the 10th time in 11 days Coweta has seen double-digit new cases.
Cumulative totals for Coweta now stand at 1136 cases, 17 deaths and 80 hospitalizations.
Single-day highs for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (48 on July 23); deaths (3 on May 21); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).
