Mr. Personality: Book of the Month and other Ramblings

By MR. PERSONALITY, Special to The Paper
February, the highlights for this month are as follows: Groundhog Day, Ash Wednesday, and Valentine’s Day. Each day has their own popularity and followers. I have noticed over the years that Valentine’s Day can be beautiful or bittersweet for many. The concept and intention of Valentine’s Day is to express one’s love and desires of one’s heart.
Having experienced an extreme summer’s weather, we now seem to be experiencing extreme winter weather. Some may say that may stay with us due to climate change.
Due to my aging process, I am having to meet many challenges, sometimes daily. To help me better combat and overcome such challenges, I am studying old school philosophers such as the stoic, the very mindset of our founding fathers that were indeed constantly challenged by the school of hard knocks.
This is my third essay on the topic of “The Positive Effects of Death.” The mindset of old-school philosophers can indeed be very helpful in putting life and death into proper perspective. The whole point of this essay is to be fully alive in spite of our coming death, to enjoy deepest experiences while we still can- just as they are.
My many Books of the Month provide me with wisdom to apply to my daily life, to extract the most joy from all of life’s experiences. Extreme thinking leads to extreme experiences and amazing adventures. I am now living life to the most fullest than at any time before I moved to this state and town. I am even now in the middle of making positive changes in all areas of my daily life. I am being swept away by positive, spiritual forces day after day.
My Book of the Month is titled “Karma” by Sadhguru. I found this book to contain much wisdom about the subject of karma, much that is often misunderstood by many, myself included. I want to point out that the author’s life and tradition is steeped in karma, and may be hard to grasp by the outside of such a common tradition. I found that I often do not want to give up my own opinions and concepts of what I came to believe karma is for me. Seems I have been known to apply such opinions and concepts to faith and religion etc. etc. Keeping an open mind helps. I am truly impressed at the way the author expressed his thoughts and ideas most clearly. Read it for yourself, accept what speaks to your heart and mind, and read it again.
Next month, I shall have a new topic and essay and another Book of the Month.
Stay tuned.
Peace, love, and much respect
Your friend, Mr. Personality
