Friday: Coweta confirms 40 new cases of COVID-19

The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Friday, Aug.7.

Today, Coweta County confirmed 40 new cases of COVID-19, the fourth-highest single day total since the pandemic began. The last time Coweta had at least 40 cases was on July 23 when it set a single-day high of 48. No deaths or hospitalizations were reported on Friday.

This is the 18th consecutive day Coweta has seen double-digit new cases. In those 18 days (since July 21), Coweta has registered 446 cases, 6 deaths and 25 hospitalizations.

Cumulative totals for Coweta now stand at 1465 cases, 22 deaths and 96 hospitalizations.

Single-day highs for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (48 on July 23); deaths (3 on May 21); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

Statewide, all COVID-19 daily numbers increased significantly after much lower totals on Thursday. Today, Georgia had 900 more cases than yesterday with 4109. Georgia also recorded 91 deaths (3 shy of single-day high 94), 280 hospitalizations and 53 ICU admits.

The 4,109 cases marked the 32nd consecutive day the state has recorded 2,000-or-more COVID-19 cases in a single day.

Presently, there are 2,981 people in Georgia hospitalized with COVID-19.

Overall, Georgia now stands at 209,004 cumulative cases, 4117 deaths, 20,282 hospitalizations and 3700 ICU admits.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (94 on April 20); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (85 on July 24).
