Saturday: Coweta records 16 new cases, 1 death, 1 hospitalization

The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Saturday, Sept. 19.
Coweta County confirmed 16 new cases of COVID-19 in Saturday’s report with 1 death and 1 hospitalization. The death was of a 79-year-old female with unknown underlying conditions. It’s the 15th death in Coweta due to COVID-19 during the month of September, more than doubling the previous monthly high of 7 in August. And today is the 6th consecutive day with double-digit cases.

Saturday’s 16 cases push the Coweta cumulative total to 2499, up from Friday’s sum of 2483. The overall positive rate for tests in Coweta is 8.7 percent. Other cumulative totals to date include 41 deaths and 122 hospitalizations.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (66 on Aug. 26); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).
Today in Georgia, there were 2284 cases confirmed, up 450 from Friday’s total. It’s the 35th consecutive day below 3,000 cases. Other Saturday numbers include 62 deaths, 135 hospitalizations and 26 ICU admits.
