Saturday: Coweta records 17 new COVID-19 cases

The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Saturday, Sept. 5.

Today, Coweta County confirmed 17 new cases of COVID-19 with no reports of deaths or hospitalizations. The GA DPH website confirmed Coweta with 170 PCR tests on Saturday with a positive percentage rate of 10.2. Georgia’s positive rate is 8.8 percent.

For the completed week of Sunday, Aug. 30 to Saturday, Sept. 5, Coweta only had 95 new cases (13.6 per day) with 5 deaths and 3 hospitalizations. It was the lowest number of cases in a week (Sun-Sat) since posting 89 (12.7 per day), 1 death and 4 hospitalizations from June 21 to 27.

Saturday’s cases move the Coweta cumulative total to 2325, up from Friday’s sum of 2308. Other cumulative totals to date include 31 deaths and 111 hospitalizations.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (66 on Aug. 26); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

Georgia saw the number of new case of COVID-19 rise by just over 100 today from Friday, confirming 2194 with 46 deaths, 99 hospitalizations and 17 ICU admits. It is now 21 consecutive days that Georgia has been below 3,000 cases in a day.

Overall, Georgia now stands at 281,548 cases, 5977 deaths, 25,501 hospitalizations and 4681 ICU admits.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
