From Staff Reports

Everyone has their “go-to” place to eat. It might be with linen tablecloths and waiters in ties, or where you throw peanuts on the floor and carve your initials in the wooden tables. Whatever and wherever, it’s your “joint.”

There are lots of these places around here, and we’re out to find them all in The Joints column. This month – it’s Chylaca’s Mexican Restaurant and Grill in downtown Newnan and in Thomas Crossroads.

Chylaca’s Mexican Restaurant and Grill

Any restaurant needs to have the basics down. And in this case, that would be the salsa and the rice. Ask us, they have probably the best Mexican rice around. And they serve their salsa from big old teapot-like containers because it’s easier to refill due to all the customer requests.

With two locations on either side of the Berlin Wall, er, Interstate 85, there’s no excuse for not hitting up Chylaca’s. They cater to the entire family, or you can head up to the fully stocked bar, grab a drink with some buddies and try out some amazing dishes.

You will find all the usual Mexican fare, but some of their specialities are a real treat. We are particularly big on the El Cabo and the Tacos Carne Asada. And the Burrito California will feed you and a couple of young ones as well. Seriously, they have some dishes you’ve probably never tried, and you should. They have some great drink specials and you can find coupons in The Shopper.
